Why is Nokia allowing other web sites to publish Nokia content? ( back to top )
Forum Nokia will never be the only resource developers use when creating mobile applications and mobile content, and there's no reason it should be. Instead, Nokia wants to help other developer communities by providing simple, free access to quality Nokia content like software, documents, images, and videos.

What content is available for publishing? ( back to top )
NCSP offers nearly all the software and documents available on Forum Nokia, plus a range of exclusive images and videos. Please see the Available Content page for a full listing.

What is required to participate? ( back to top )
Currently, all the content can be linked to and used by anyone.

Do I have to publish everything, or can I pick and choose which content I want? ( back to top )
You can pick and choose which content you would like to publish.

Is this a complicated and expensive thing to implement? ( back to top )
While the system has been designed to be simple as possible, the integration complexity is really in the hands of our partners. Currently, no partners have had to buy any additional hardware or software to integrate with NCSP.

For those sites interested in our XML integration options, there are numerous free and open-source tools that can be used to parse, validate, and manipulate XML data. Please visit our XML Resources page for links to XML tools and books.

What about on-going maintenance? ( back to top )
For direct linking, the NCSP tries best as possible to ensure that links will not break. However, when new content is released you may want to update your site to point to the latest offerings. For those doing XML integrations, the NCSP XML files have been designed for automated processing, thus it is possible for our partners to completely automate the importing and updating of the NCSP data once their initial system is in place.

Will I always have the latest and greatest content? ( back to top )
Yes, all of the content is centrally managed ensuring that you will always have access to the latest content as soon as it is available. To ensure that the updates propagate quickly, it is recommended to refresh your local data once a day using the NCSP XML.

Can anyone participate? ( back to top )
To some degree, yes, anyone can participate. However, some content is reserved for select hand-picked partners only.

Do my web site visitors have to leave my site to view Nokia content? ( back to top )
Not if you don't want them to. NCSP can provide all the information needed for you to build your website with Nokia content. The only time your users will interact with the NCSP servers is for the actual file downloads, which reside on Nokia servers. By leaving the downloads on Nokia servers, Nokia covers the bandwidth costs associated with the downloads.

Am I required to brand the content in any particular way? ( back to top )
No. You can brand it any way you want; However, this participation agreement does not allow the use of the Nokia logo.

Are there any legal issues to worry about? ( back to top )
No. We have taken measures to ensure that we comply with all required export control laws. In certain cases you may be required to display an End User License Agreement before allowing your site visitor to access certain content. These agreements are made available via XML data files (For example, check out the Software EULA.)

Some content like the tookit downloads are fairly large files. Who pays for the bandwidth utilization? ( back to top )
Nokia does. The file appears to come from your web site, however the download is actually being served up by a Nokia server.

How does NCSP work? ( back to top )
This entire support site is dedicated to that question but here is the quick and dirty answer: The NCSP Servers host developer related content and provide XML files to describe that content. Those XML files are accessible for use as a data source for publication in websites and applications. NCSP also offers a download service to cover the bandwidth requirements of downloading Nokia resources online.

As a participating site, is there anything Nokia requires me to provide on my web site? ( back to top )
Yes, there is one thing. Some of the content provided requires an End User License Agreement to be displayed before a user is allowed to view the content. These agreements are made available via XML data files (For example, check out the Software EULA.)
